    Diving the Blue Heron Bridge

Florida is no stranger to great diving, but many travelers are unaware that The Palm Beaches are home to hundreds of spectacular dives for every skill level. In fact, people come from all over the world to dive at Blue Heron Bridge at Phil Foster Park. It's known as one of the best shore-dive sites in the world (meaning divers don't jump off a boat, but literally wade into the water and dive from the shore). It's full of colorful sea life and a wide variety of underwater species. It's not uncommon to see seahorses, pipefish and even octopus. If you're not a diver, there's a special trail just for snorkelers (perfectly named the Snorkel Trail). The depth around Blue Heron Bridge goes from 4 feet at the entry point out to 20 feet near the boat wrecks. The Snorkel Trail ranges from 10 to 15 feet.

    Walking Around West Palm

Discover Clematis Street, home to funky sidewalk cafes, colorful murals and buzzworthy bars. If you're visiting during Christmas, be sure to check out the massive sand Christmas tree aptly named Sandi—it’s a 35-foot, 700-ton holiday sand tree and this year is her 10th anniversary. For live music and fun events head to The Square, a shopping district and open-air plaza. Enjoy alfresco dining, as The Square offers more than 800 outdoor seats at restaurants across the neighborhood. Art aficionados come for the museums and stay for the shows. View extensive collections of American, Chinese, contemporary and European pieces at the Norton Museum of Art. Walk through the jungle-like Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens, where nine major sculptures are set amidst palms and tropical plants.

Taking a Bike Tour in Palm Beach

Leslie Diver, a long-time resident of Palm Beach (she has been a resident for over three decades), started Island Living Tours 16 years ago and has been in demand ever since. The biking tours are a great way to get an up-close-and-personal views of Palm Beach, highlighting its colorful history and world-class architecture, while getting a nice work-out in the process (don't worry, it's a leisurely bike ride, but still a nice mode of transportation to get around). Diver shares stories about the famous residents of Palm Beach as well as the world-renowned architects that left their mark here (including Addison Mizner, Marion Sims Wyeth, John Volk and Maurice Fatio). Diver served on both the Architectural Review Commission and Landmarks Preservation Commission so she knows her stuff. Her company, Island Living, also does walking and driving tours.

Where to Eat and Drink in The Palm Beaches of Florida

The famous Breakers hotel in Palm Beach, Florida.

For a memorable upscale dining experience, head to the

Seafood Bar at The Breakers. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, this Palm Beach favorite, offers some of the freshest seafood dishes to be had. Fan favorites appetizers include the jumbo lump crab cakes chive remoulade (made with plenty of fresh crab and very little filler) and tuna tartare tostada with avocado. For entrees, you can't go wrong with the pecan-crusted grouper served with coconut lime sauce and the freshly-caught snapper served with local corn and shiitake mushrooms. Be sure to leave room for dessert. The key lime pie is The Breakers' original recipe and dates back over 100 years, but equally as good is the banana cream pie with bourbon caramel, heath bar, and whipped cream. The views from the restaurant are beautiful and the food is some of the best to be had. The design inside the eatery is a nod to yachting life with bespoke nautical details and large-size aquariums.

True Food Kitchen, located in The Square, is a great spot for health-conscious diners as well as those with food allergies or sensitivities. They have plenty of choices for those looking for gluten-free, naturally organic, vegetarian and vegan options. They are also known for their freshly-pressed juices, organic teas, and natural refreshers. The restaurant is actually based on the anti-inflammatory food pyramid, which is the brainchild of the restaurant's founder Dr. Andrew Weil, the renowned doctor of integrative medicine. Popular choices are the umami on a grass-fed burger, kale salad with tart and lemony dressing, and the rustic handmade pizza piled high with fresh, in-season ingredients.

Swifty's POOL, located at the Colony Hotel in the heart of Palm Beach, not only has great food, but it also hosts a number of live performances including rum tastings, book readings and live music. The restaurant has both an indoor and outdoor component with the outdoor component situated in front of the pool under the hotel's hanging garden. Some of the favorites on the menu include the Florida fish of the day; the filet mignon and the grilled pork chops. The restaurant is open for lunch, dinner and cocktails and the atmosphere is chic, yet casual.

Farmers Table, located in North Palm Beach, is a farm-to-table restaurant that focuses on seasonally-inspired cuisine. It's open for lunch and dinner and the outdoor seating has nice views of the nearby golf course. The focus of the cuisine is fresh, pure ingredients devoid of excess fat, salt, processing, toxins, butter or cream. The restaurant does not have a deep fat fryer or microwave, so the food is always served up fresh to order. Fan favorites include "Spasta and Meatballs" (which is gluten-free and made with spaghetti squash and either chicken or vegan meatballs); Ramen Bowl which comes with Asian vegetables, mushroom dashi broth, gingered egg, and chicken; and the grass-fed beef short ribs which comes with roasted Brussels sprouts and mushrooms.

The Tacklebox, located in Jupiter Inlet Village, is a boutique seafood market that serves takeout sandwiches, salads, and poke bowls as well as freshly-caught fish with sides. Accompaniments to the fish include seasonal vegetables and various sauces including tropical pico de gallo, sesame soy and guacamole. Everything is made to order and is offered to-go, for curbside pick-up, or dockside delivery. A fan favorite is the super green's salad served with a protein (either fish or chicken). The poke-rito is another popular item and comes shaved broccoli, super greens, edamame, toasted pumpkin seeds, granny-smith apple, blueberries and champagne vinaigrette.
