What Beaches Have The Whitest Sand

Sand colour is determined by different rocks and minerals that can be found around the coast, and this is why across the UK, beaches can have entirely different shades of sand.

The Argus: West Wittering beach, West Sussex, has been named one of the whitest sand beaches in the UK.

Parkdean analysed the sand shades of 50 different beaches and came up with the top 10 with the whitest shade.

The top ranking beach was Kynance Cove in Cornwall, followed by Appletree Bay in the Isles of Scilly and St Ives in Cornwall.

West Wittering was followed by Brancaster in Norfolk at number eight, Fistral Beach in Cornwall at number nine and Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland at number 10.

With countless beach huts and soft sand, West Wittering is a perfect family day out.
